Rudrapur Quality Convention highlights Industrial productivity and quality

The 12th chapter of the Rudrapur Convention on Quality Concepts (RCCQC-26), held at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, in the second week of September, emphasised the importance of quality, productivity, workplace safety, cost reduction, improvement in work processes and the application of innovative solutions to industrial problems, according to a press communique issued by the organisers.
The convention was organised by Ashok Leyland in collaboration with the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), said Nikhilesh Shandilya, Deputy General Manager (Operational Excellence) at Ashok Leyland, Pantnagar.
The presence of Dr Shivendra Kumar Kashyap, Vice-Chancellor of Pantnagar University, as the chief guest and Dr R.S. Jashaud, Dean of the College of Agribusiness Management at the university, as the guest of honour, highlighted the importance of practical reforms at industrial workplaces and innovations being undertaken by industries, the press communique said.
More than 300 participants representing 51 teams from various industries took part in the convention. The teams presented their projects focusing on quality improvement in industrial manufacturing, according to the organisers.
Chief guest Dr Shivendra Kumar Kashyap described the convention as a new beginning in strengthening the interface between industry and academia.
The teams that were awarded gold medals at the convention will participate in the National Convention of the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar in December this year, Shandilya said.
