Coordination Committee of Pensioners and Senior Citizens Association, Uttarakhand, Launches Satyagraha
Dehradun,  Oct 2

On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Coordination Committee of Pensioners and Senior Citizens Association, Uttarakhand, organized a peaceful Satyagraha and presented a memorandum of their demands at the Gandhi Statue in Gandhi Park, Dehradun, here today.
During the peaceful protest, association spokespersons Tajwar Singh Rawat and Vijay Bhatt highlighted a list of critical grievances affecting retirees and formally submitted a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister of India through the District Magistrate of Dehradun.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Tajwar Singh Rawat stated: “We have gathered today on Gandhi Jayanti to peacefully demand what is rightfully ours. Our retirees and unorganized senior citizens face extreme financial hardship. It is imperative that the government immediately revises the Terms of Reference for the 8th Central Pay Commission and implements its benefits starting January 1, 2026. Delays are no longer sustainable for struggling pensioners.”
Echoing these concerns, Vijay Bhatt added: “Medical costs are rising rapidly, yet our fixed medical allowances remain stagnant. We urgently require comprehensive health security and a guaranteed minimum pension of ₹7,000 per month for unorganized senior citizens. We hope the Honorable Prime Minister acts swiftly on our memorandum to protect the dignity and health of our elder community.”
The key demands of pensioners and senior citizens included Immediate revisions to the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the 8th Central Pay Commission, application of the 8th CPC benefits effectively from January 1, 2026, along with the prompt clearance of all arrears, immediate provision of Interim Relief to assist all struggling pensioners,
complete review and restructuring of the recovery timeline currently set for commuted pensions, substantial increase in the Fixed Medical Allowance alongside the provision of comprehensive health security and a guaranteed minimum old-age social security pension of ₹7,000 per month specifically dedicated to unorganized senior citizens.
