Padma Shri awardee Prof. Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Singh Sanjay, a renowned orthopaedic and spine surgeon, academician, author, poet, columnist and social worker, has been conferred the prestigious Wellness Eminence Award at the Third International WellnessCon-2026, held at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur.

The award recognises his outstanding and sustained contributions to orthopaedics, social service, public health awareness and the promotion of holistic wellness.

His professional journey has reached global audiences, and he has shared his experience through academic lectures and professional orations in more than 50 countries.

Beyond his clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Sanjay has devoted considerable time and effort to social service. His initiatives in disability prevention, corrective surgeries for children affected by polio and cerebral palsy, road safety awareness and community healthcare reflect his commitment to improving the quality of life of underprivileged sections of society. He has also organised and participated in more than 300 free medical and corrective surgery camps.

A passionate advocate of preventive healthcare, Dr. Sanjay promotes two simple yet comprehensive concepts for holistic wellness: HEN (Health, Education and Nutrition), emphasising the importance of these three fundamental pillars in human development, and DEWS (Diet, Exercise, Work and Sleep), highlighting four essential components of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. He believes that awareness, early screening and preventive healthcare are key to building a healthier society.

His achievements have been recognised through several national and international honours, including the Padma Shri, Guinness World Records and Limca Book of Records recognitions. The Third International WellnessCon-2026, organised at CSJMU, Kanpur, brought together national and international experts to deliberate on different dimensions of health and wellness. The Wellness Eminence Award recognises Dr. Sanjay’s lifelong dedication to medical excellence, social service and the advancement of community health.
