Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj view Kailash peaks in Tibet from Lipulekh pass

Satpal Maharaj, Uttarakhand Tourist Minister became first politician and minister of Uttarakhand of the country, to view Kailash peak in Tibet, from 18000 feet high  Indian territory of old Lipulekh pass on Monday.

Pithoragarh District Magistrate Reena Joshi said that since Ministry of Defence, Government of India has given permission to Uttarakhand tourism department to allow common tourism activities at old Lipulekh pass and the department is forming  Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the activities. “It could be possible to have ‘Kailash Darshan’ from old Lipulekh pass from September second week this year,” said the Pithoragarh DM.

The tourism department had allowed tourists to view Kailash peaks during ‘Heli Darshan’ of ‘Adi Kailash’ that continued till last month.” if needed, it could be started  again,” said the DM

“Satpal Maharaj, Uttarakhand cabinet minister of tourism reached at the top of 18000 feet high old Lipulekh pass in Vyans valley of Pithoragarh district, and had ‘Darshan’ of ‘Kailash’ peaks in Tibet from there,” said  a press note issued by Pithoragarh Information Officer. Maharaj was accompanied by his wife former cabinet minister Amrita Rawat and his team.

Satpal Maharaj said after the viewing Kailash peaks from Indian territory that in future the Indian pilgrims will not need to go to Tibet to have ‘Darshan’ of sacred ‘Kailash’ peaks in Tibet.

‘Kailash Mansarowar yatra’, the annual pilgrimage to this ancient Hindu pilgrims center was stopped from 2019. It was closed for Indian pilgrims due to Corona epidemic but was not allowed by Chinese government even after the epidemic.

In view of ‘Kailash Mansarowar yatra’ situated in Tibet, the Indian government has developed ‘Adi Kailash’ pilgrimage since, as this religious spot of Lord Shiva is situated inside Indian territory.

Manjit Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM0, Dharchula said that Satpal Maharaj being Uttarakhand Tourist Minister had gone there to find possibility of tourism potential in that area keeping in mind ‘Darshan’ of ‘Kailash’ peaks from there.
