Garhwali Ramleela at Graphic Era Evokes Emotions Among Audience
Dehradun, 25 October: In a bid to preserve the rich culture of Uttarakhand and revive the tradition of Ramleela, a Garhwali Ramleela was staged at the Graphic Era. The event took place at the Silver Jubilee Convention Center of Graphic Era, drawing an enthusiastic crowd.
The event saw the felicitation of Dr. Kamal Ghanshala, Chairman of the Graphic Era Group of Institutions, for his significant contribution to promoting Uttarakhand’s culture and his pivotal role in initiating the Garhwali Ramleela. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ghanshala expressed that this initiative is a commendable effort to spread the ideals of Lord Shri Ram among the younger generation, fostering a deeper connection with their cultural roots and native language.
The Ramleela commenced with the depiction of Shravanalila and Vanagaman, followed by captivating scenes such as Sita Swayamvar, Bharat Milap, Ram Hanuman Milan, Sita Ki Khoj, and dialogues between Angad and Ravana. Each scene received thunderous applause from the audience. The event culminated with the defeat of Lankapati Ravana and the grand coronation of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.
The roles were portrayed by the following artists: Ayush Rawat as Ram, Anupriya Sundriyal as Sita, Alok Sundriyal as Laxman, Gaurav Raturi as Bharat, Akhil Gunsai as Shatrughan, Mukesh Hatwal as Hanuman, and Dinesh Singh Bhandari as Ravana. The Ramleela was directed by folk artist Kulanand Ghanshala, while Dinesh Baudai and Indu Rawat who served as narrators, engaging the audience with their vivid storytelling and explanations of the Ramleela’s various aspects.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Pro-Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University; Dr. Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Sanjay Jasola, Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University; along with other officials, faculty members, and students.
