Convocation Ceremony for International Students at Graphic Era

Dehradun, June 24

A unique blend of international education, cultural diversity, and global collaboration was witnessed at Graphic Era today. The occasion was the International Convocation Ceremony for foreign students pursuing their studies at Graphic Era University, here.

The International Convocation Ceremony for the Batch of 2026 was organized today at Graphic Era Hill University. Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest, Deputy Head of Mission of Embassy of Zimbabwe, Mr. Peter Hobwani said that education is not merely a means of earning a degree but a powerful tool for creating opportunities, guiding society towards progress, and making the world a better place. He emphasized that global achievements are not accomplished individually but through collaboration, partnerships, and collective efforts.

Appreciating the visionary leadership of Chairman of the Graphic Era Group of Institutions, Dr. Kamal Ghanshala, Mr. Hobwani said that Graphic Era has opened new doors of knowledge and opportunities for international students and has demonstrated that education is not confined by nationality, borders, or geography. Knowledge is the shared heritage of humanity, and Graphic Era stands as a strong example of this global vision.

Guest of Honour, Chargé d’Affaires of the High Commission of Lesotho, Mr. Metsing Ediel Lemphane said that students should act as bridges rather than walls between diverse cultures and contribute to connecting people and nations. Special Guest Education Counsellor at the High Commission of the Republic of Uganda, Mr. Baker Nantuwunda Balunywa said that during their years at the university, students had not only acquired knowledge but had also built an invaluable global network with people from different countries and cultures. He encouraged them to keep this network alive and strong throughout their lives.

Pro-Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma said that the degrees awarded today represent not only academic achievement but also an important responsibility towards society and the global community. He added that the true purpose of education is to serve humanity while contributing to global development.

The ceremony commenced with a grand academic procession.Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University, Dr. Narpinder Singh and Acting Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University, Dr. Tabassum Naqvi presented reports on the achievements and progress of their respective universities.

A total of 84 international students from 15 countries were awarded undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma qualifications during the convocation. The graduates represented countries including South Sudan, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Liberia, Tanzania, Uganda, Myanmar, Nepal, and Zimbabwe. Of the 84 graduates, 51 were from Graphic Era Deemed University, 10 from Graphic Era Hill University, while 23 received degrees through online programmes. The students completed a variety of academic programmes including MBA, M.Tech, B.Tech, M.Sc, B.Sc, BCA, B.Com, BA, and Hotel Management.

The ceremony was attended by Pro VC of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr. Santosh S. Saraf, Registrar Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Acting Registrar of Graphic Era Hill University Dr. Pramod S. Nair, Dean of International Affairs Dr. D. R. Gangodkar along with other university officials, deans, heads of departments, faculty members and parents of graduates. Several students joined the ceremony online.
