Fifteen Indian tribal traders, who were supposed to enter Chinese territory of Tibet to commence Indo – Tibet border trade this year, will have to wait at Indian Mart of Gunji as the Chinese authorities have said that due to some preparations yet to be completed, they will be given new date to enter into Tibet. This information was given by Ashish Joshi, SDM, Dharchula and designated trade officer.
“We have received a communication from an officer of Ministry of External Affairs, Purang district of Tibet in China to advise the Indian traders to wait till next order as the preparation for their shelter and mart are yet to be completed.” said the SDM.
According to SDM, over 113 traders and their helpers have so far been issued trade passes for this year’s Indo-China border trade that is being restarted after seven years. “We have also allocated place for shelter of mules and horses besides the residence for Indian traders at high Himalayan region of Nabhidang,” said SDM.
