Transportation to Vyans, Darma valleys affected due to damage to bridge

Transportation from Dharchula towards Vyans and Darma valleys was stopped till next orders by Pithoragarh district administration after the Kulagar suspension bridge, at 11 km from Dharchula, was damaged due to heavy landslide early morning today.
“Until the alternate way is developed by side of the damaged bridge, we have requested the people not to undertake travel from or to Dharchula from high valley villages,” said Ashish Joshi, SDM, Dharchula.
In order to prepare alternate way towards high Himalayan valleys, BRO has started preparing a route with the help of cement blocks.” We will be able to start on foot travel by today evening and likely small vehicle transportation by tomorrow,” claimed the SDM.
The said that the reconstruction of the new bridge at the place will take 5 to10 days’ time.
According to Kailash Mansarowar yatra nodal agency, KMVN, two of their ‘Kailash Mansarowar’ pilgrim batches are to return from Gunji in the coming days. “If an alternate way could be developed, the 9th batch could return today, while the 10th and last batch will return on 23rd August,” said Dhan Singh Bisht, in charge of base camp of nodal agency at Dharchula.
