State-of-the-Art sports injury and therapy centre launched at Graphic Era University
Dehradun, September 3
Graphic Era has presented Uttarakhand with another new facility by opening a centre dedicated to sports injuries and physiotherapy. The centre is the first of its kind, offering facilities and specialised equipment for therapy ranging from spinal conditions to rare types of sports injuries.
The state-of-the-art ‘Graphic Era Rehab – Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Centre’ was inaugurated at Graphic Era today. The centre was inaugurated by Chairman of the Graphic Era Group of Institutions, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala, and Vice Chairperson, Dr. Rakhi Ghanshala. Equipped with modern technologies and expert services, the centre will provide physiotherapy, rehabilitation and treatment for sports injuries, while also preparing patients and athletes to safely and scientifically return to their normal activities and sports after an injury.
The biggest highlight of Graphic Era Rehab is the advanced technologies and equipment available at the centre. Modern technologies such as Germany’s NHORD Combi Trainer with Wall Bar, Spinal Decompression Machine, Class IV Laser and Bobo Motion and Balance System have been made available at the centre. Several of these facilities have been introduced in Uttarakhand for the first time. The NHORD Combi Trainer with Wall Bar will be used for therapeutic and functional exercises, while the Spinal Decompression Machine will assist in the rehabilitation of spinal, muscular and skeletal conditions. The Class IV Laser will help in pain and inflammation management and recovery, while the Bobo Motion and Balance System will enable the assessment and training of balance, stability and neuromuscular control.
In addition, the centre has also installed state-of-the-art strength and cardio training equipment from the prestigious American company Precor. From early rehabilitation following an injury or surgery to improving muscle strength, developing physical capacity and ensuring a safe return to normal activities, patients will receive structured and phased training. Special programmes in Sports Injury Rehabilitation, Strength and Conditioning and Return-to-Sport have also been designed for athletes, enabling them to return to the playing field safely and scientifically after an injury. Expert services will also be available for musculoskeletal problems, post-surgical rehabilitation, pain and mobility-related concerns and muscle weakness.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Graphic Era Group of Institutions, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala, said that treatment alone is not sufficient after an injury or surgery; proper and scientific rehabilitation is equally important. He said that Graphic Era aims to make high-quality physiotherapy and rehabilitation facilities available to patients and athletes in Uttarakhand within their own city. He added that people will no longer need to travel to Delhi or other major cities for advanced rehabilitation facilities, as they will now have access to modern technology and expert services here.
Vice Chairperson of the Graphic Era Group of Institutions, Dr. Rakhi Ghanshala, said that due to the absence of such facilities in Uttarakhand, people had to travel outside the state for treatment. Now, they will be able to access these facilities in Dehradun itself. Along with state-of-the-art machines, the services of experts have also been made available at the centre.
Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, Dr. Owais Talashi, said that the establishment of Graphic Era Rehab is an important initiative in the field of physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation in Uttarakhand.
