Third batch of Indian Traders enter Tibet

The third batch of 10 border traders entered Tibet through the Lipulekh Pass on Sunday, carrying goods worth ₹23.63 lakh, Trade Officer and Dharchula SDM Ashish Joshi said.
“Of the 10 people who entered Tibet today, six are traders and four are helpers,” Joshi said.
At the same time, a group of nine traders, including traders from the first and second batches, returned from Tibet with goods, he said. The valuation of the goods brought back by the traders is being carried out by customs officials at the Gunji trade mart in India.
According to Joshi, a total of 174 trade passes have been issued this year for border trade through the Lipulekh Pass. So far, 47 traders, including 20 in the first batch, 17 in the second batch and 10 in the third batch, have crossed over to the Tibetan trading centre at Taklakot.
The India-China border trade through the Lipulekh Pass, which had remained suspended since 2019, resumed this year. The trade has been proceeding smoothly since it began on August 1, officials said.
