Himalayan Dishes Delight at Graphic Era
Dehradun, September 26: Students at Graphic Era presented the flavours of the Himalayan region through Garhwali and Nepali thalis.
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, a Himalayan Food Fest was organized at Graphic Era Deemed University. Students presented traditional delicacies of the Himalayan region. The dishes prepared for the fest were made by students undergoing Hotel Management training under the Kaushal Jyoti Yojana. Under this initiative, children from economically weaker families in Uttarakhand are being provided free training in Hotel Management.
The food fest featured a traditional Garhwali thali comprising dal ki pakodi, bhang ki chutney, swale, phaanu, aloo ke gutke, Kumaoni raita and jhangore ki kheer. The Nepali thali showcased the diversity of Nepali cuisine through sel roti, Gurkhali chutney and momos. Alongside these, Himalayan mocktails made using local fruits such as buransh and malta presented traditional flavours in a contemporary style.
The food fest was organized by the Department of Hospitality Management of Graphic Era Deemed University. Department Head Dr. Amar Dabral, along with other faculty members and students, were present during the event.
