A leopard that had killed 12 goats in Sera and Gogna villages in the Ghat area has been trapped and relocated to its natural habitat by the Forest Department, Dinesh Chandra Joshi, Range Officer of the Pithoragarh Range, said on Wednesday.
“The approximately two-and-a-half-year-old leopard had been roaming in the area for the past two months. It was trapped in a cage and subsequently tranquillised by a forest team before being transported and released into its natural habitat,” Joshi said.
Neema Waldia, Gram Pradhan of Sera village, said the leopard had killed more than 100 domestic animals in and around the village during the past two months.
“The leopard had also attacked and injured a villager, Narayan Ram, who recovered after prolonged treatment in hospital,” Waldia said.
