Mussoorie gets developmental schemes worth Rs.200 crores

Despite severe cold wave conditions, It was a day when sops rained on the hill station of Mussoorie. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Monday, dedicated and laid the foundation stone of schemes worth about Rs 200 crore in Mussoorie.

The Chief Minister dedicated Mussoorie town hall at a cost of Rs 18.20 crore. He also dedicated multi-level parking at Kingreg in Mussoorie at a cost of Rs 31.95 crore and laid the foundation stone of the drinking water scheme at the cost of Rs 144.46 crore. He also performed Bhoomi pujan for the construction of houses for families shifted from Chiffon Court at IDH Landaur Bazaar in Mussoorie at a cost of Rs 5.24 crore.

The Chief Minister announced that parking for 500 vehicles will be constructed at Zero Point in Mussoorie and a road to Khatta pani will be constructed. He said that 34 houses are being constructed for the slum dwellers who have been shifted from Chiffon court in collaboration with Hans Foundation, while the remaining 50 houses will be constructed by the State Government if the land is provided by Municipal Council Mussoorie. He also said that if land is provided by the local body, then a vendor zone will be created in the town. CM Dhami said Rs 1.5 crores has been sanctioned for the Garhwal Sabha building. The Garhwal Sabha Samiti executive members also met the Chief Minister and demanded to keep the Garhwal Sabha building out of the ambit of the ropeway project. Currently, the government has proposed to acquire the building for the project.

The Municipal Council president Anuj Gupta thanked the chief minister for the projects for the town and demanded to include the Mussoorie-Dehradun road in the All-Weather road project as the heavy traffic is expected to the town after the construction of elevated Dehradun-Delhi elevated Corridor that will reduce the journey to merely  2.5 hours.

Manmohan Singh Mall, former President Municipal council Mussoorie and member of the executive committee apprised the chief minister that the Garhwal Sabha building should be left out of the ropeway project ambit as it was several meters away from the designated ropeway path for the project. The Chief Minister assured to consider their proposal after discussing with senior officials.

Earlier, senior Congress leader Godavari Thapli at a press conference aired her satisfaction at the department concerned including the name of former Congress Chief Minister Harish Rawat in the plaque installed for the inauguration of the projects. Godavari Thapli said that the BJP government was trying to take credit for the projects that were announced by former CM Harish Rawat and she had announced to register her protest.

However, after her demand was met the protest was cancelled and she aired her satisfaction at the inclusion of the name of their leader. She said as the name of former CM Harish Rawat has been included in the plaque, there was no point in protesting further.
