Civil Defence-Graphic Era University took out bike rally for voter’s awareness
Dehradun, April 13
To propagate the message of voting in the forthcoming general elections, Civil Defence organisation and Graphic Era University took out a 38 kms long bike rally in Dehradun city here today. Uttarakhand State Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam flagged off the rally.
Addressing the participants, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Purushottam said that voting rights are a very important democratic right and fair elections are necessary to strengthen democracy in the country. He called upon the students, teachers and civil defence wardens to cast their vote and called upon each and every voters to exercise their democratic right by voting.
Dr. Purushottam thanked Chief Warden of Civil Defense and Founder President of Graphic Era, Dr. Kamal Ghanshla for organizing the event to motivate people to vote. Graphic Era Group of Institutions Chairman and Chief Warden of Civil Defence, Dr. Kamal Ghanshla himself led the massive bike rally by riding a bike. Addressing the participants of the rally at the Sports Complex of Parade Ground, he said that this rally has been taken out with an aim to motivate more and more people to vote .
Dr. Kamal Ghanshala said that he wants to create a record of highest turnout in the state by encouraging maximum voting in the coming Lok Sabha elections. Dr. Ghanshala said that Civil Defense wardens and students and teachers of Graphic Era will encourage people in their areas to participate in this exercise and vote.
The 38 km long bike rally started from Graphic Era Deemed University and then moved from Transport Nagar, Ballupur, Garhi Cantt, Raj Bhawan Marg, Dilaram Chowk, Behal Tiraha, E.C. and reached parade ground. The rally participants took oath to vote at the parade ground. The rally concluded after reaching Graphic Era University campus. The participants in the rally carried placards with slogans like – ‘This is the right of democracy to elect the government by voting’, ‘The first task of 19th April, do vote’, “Vote is not a holiday, it is a festival of democracy”, ‘Voting is the most important task’. More than six hundred students, teachers, officials and wardens participated with more than six hundred two-wheelers in the rally.
Dr. Subhash Gupta, Dr. Devesh Pratap Singh, Dr. MP Singh, DS Rawat, Dr. Amal Shankar Shukla, Anil Chauhan, Dr. Girish Lakheda, Dr. Arvind Mohan, Subodh Pundir, Ruchira Rawat, Amar Dabral and Deputy of Civil Defense Organization Controller SK Sahu were amongst the prominent participants.
