Uttarakhand Congress demands security for ‘Mohammed Deepak’ who is detained by police, seeks action against hate mongers
Dehradun, Jan 31
Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Senior Vice President Suryakant Dhasmana has asked the Uttarakhaand BJP government to provide fool proof security to Deepak Kashyap of Kotdwar who was threatened today by hundreds of Bajrang dal workers owing allegiance to ruling BJP/RSS for saving an old Muslim shopkeeper from a Hindutva mob on January 26,2026.
Meanwhile, Deepak Kumar is being detained by Kotdwar police in the police station. He has raised apprehensions about the security off his family members also.

Suryakant Dhasmana rang up Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan to register his grave concern at the deteriorating law and order situation in the entire state. He further said that the violent incidents being carried out by anarchic elements in Uttarakhand in the name of religion and ‘Sanatan Dharma’ are tarnishing the state’s reputation across the country, and distrust is growing among the people of the northeastern states and Kashmir towards the people of Uttarakhand. He demanded that, therefore, the state government should immediately take action against these anarchic elements.

Pointing towards the increased incidents of hate and violence, Dhasmana said that in the last two months, the murder of a student from the Northeast, the deadly attack on Kashmiri youth in Vikasnagar, and now the incident at Kotdwar in Pauri district over a Muslim shopkeeper being forced to change his shop’s name, are damaging the image of Uttarakhand state across the country and the world.
Dhasmana charged that the series of such incidents suggests that all these incidents are happening under the protection of the ruling party, and the anarchic elements spreading hate and violence have the support of the ruling party. He said that such hate crimes are disrupting the communal harmony throughout the state and must be stopped immediately. Dhasmana said that Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan assured him that he would issue appropriate directives in this extremely serious matter and ensure that law and order are maintained in the state.
