Installation of new president of UNESCO Club Dehradun East concluded with scholarship distribution program
Dehradun, May 25
The Installation ceremony of the president of UNESCO Club Dehradun East was held at the Hotel Viceroy Inn on Sunday, concluding in an atmosphere of great dignity and grandeur. The primary objective of the event was to encourage education among 51 economically underprivileged yet meritorious students by awarding them scholarships.
The Chief Guest for the ceremony was the Uttarakhand Health Minister Subodh Uniyal. Present as Guests of Honor were the Uttarakhand Minister Khajan Das and MLA Savita Kapoor. All the guests lauded the social and educational service activities undertaken by the UNESCO Club over the years, describing the organization as a source of inspiration for society.
During the program, the outgoing President, Rahul Agarwal, presented a detailed account of the various social, educational, and health-related initiatives organized during his tenure. He stated that the organization’s objective has always been to extend assistance to the needy sections of society. Subsequently, he handed over the responsibilities of the presidency to the new President Naresh Gupta, extending his best wishes to him.
In his address, the newly elected President, Naresh Gupta, remarked that the UNESCO Club has been working continuously for the past 35 years, upholding the values of service, cooperation, and humanity. He affirmed that all public welfare programs conducted by the organization would continue to be pursued in the future with complete sincerity and dedication.
The UNESCO Club’s scholarship program has been a significant and commendable initiative of the organization for the past 25 years. Under this scheme, selected underprivileged and talented students are provided with notebooks, pencils, textbooks, school bags, and financial assistance amounting to ₹3,000. To qualify for the scholarship, students must demonstrate an academic performance of 60 percent or higher and must belong to an economically weaker family. Eligible students are selected by the organization through a prescribed procedure.
The organization’s Founder President, Dr. Suresh Goyal, highlighted that the UNESCO Club has been actively engaged in the fields of education, healthcare, and social service for the last 35 years. The organization regularly organizes scholarship distribution ceremonies, free eye surgery camps, health check-up camps, and numerous other public welfare programs. The program was successfully conducted by Ankit Agarwal. The ceremony was attended by a large number of dignitaries, social workers, members of the organization, and students, including the organization’s Secretary Pradeep Jain, Treasurer Ajay Jasola, Ajay Jain, Pawan Gupta, and Anil Bakshi.
