Yakshawati rivulet to be rejuvenated

Yakshawati, the ‘Puranik’ rivulet, which flows in Pithoragarh town, will be rejuvenated with a budget of Rs 5.35 crore sanctioned under Spring and River Rejuvenation Scheme (SARA), Bharat Singh, deputy project director of SARA said.
“To increase natural water flow in all 8 natural sources of Yakshawati, water tanks, check dams, besides dense plantation will be completed at surrounding all these sources in next two years,” claimed the deputy project director.
Besides Yakshawati in Pithoragarh town, Ghatigad of Didihat, Titargad and Gurghatiya gad of Berinag will also be rejuvenated under the project in next 2 years
“The project has been sanctioned as over 40 percent of waterflow has become dry in these sources in the last 10 years,”said Singh.
