Record pilgrims for ‘Adi Kailash’ and ‘Om Parvat’ yatra in May this year

A record breaking 27911 pilgrims from all parts of the country, conducted pilgrimage of ‘Adi Kailash’ and ‘Om Parvat’ in one month’s time from May 1 to 31 this year, an increase of more than 150 percent, Pithoragarh district t administration sources said.

“The number of pilgrims to ‘Adi Kailash’ in the month of May, 2025 was 10267, while the number in same month in  the years, 2024 and 2023 was 9554 and 2858 respectively,” said Ashish Joshi, SDM, Dharchula.

The number of pilgrims to ‘Adi Kailash’ and ‘Om Parvat’ increased after Prime Minister’s visit to the holy place in October 2023. .

“The ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ proved biggest source of local employment to people of this border region and helped in decreasing migration from border villages of this part of Indo-China and Indo- Nepal border, “said Pithoragarh District Magistrate  Ashish Bhatgai

The ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ this year started on May 1, with opening of temples of ‘Lord Shiva’, at Jolingkong and it will continue till October depending on local weather conditions.
