Graphic Era University echoed with the tunes of Pandit Vyas’s Santoor

Famous Santoor player ‘Padm Shri’ Pandit Satish Vyas added the sweetness of classical music at a concert at the Silver Jubilee Convention Center of Graphic Era University,today.
He started the program by playing ‘Shudh Raga’ on santoor. He was ably supported by tabla player Amit Kavthekar. The tuning of both the artistes enthralled the audience and garnered a lot of applause. On this occasion, Pandit Vyas said that santoor that was known as ‘Yathatantra Veena’ in the ancient times has evolved from the picturesque valleys of Kashmir and has become an integral part of Hindustani Classical music. He briefly explained the importance of Santoor in classical music, the 100 string musical instrument.
The program was organised by Graphic Era University in collaboration with SPIC-MACAY, an organisation dedicated to classical music and dance forms. University officials, faculty members and hundreds of students of Graphic Era Deemed University and Graphic Era Hill University were present during the recital.
