H2O Movement programme held at Graphic Era University

President and Spiritual Head of Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh Swami Chidanand said that the lack of consciousness in people is one of the major reasons for water crisis in the world.
Swami Chidanand was addressing ‘H2O Movement Walk for Water’ programme organized at Graphic Era today via online mode. He said that for the conservation of water assimilating small changes in lifestyle is important as shortage of clean water gives birth to many serious diseases in the country. He encouraged students to keep their conscience clean and participate in water conservation by planting trees regularly.
Chairman of Give Life Foundation Dr. Bart Fisher emphasized on the need for bone marrow registry and said that just like water, stem cells are the foundation of life. Stem cells found in the bone marrow are used in curing various diseases. He said that with the help of bone marrow registry it will be easier for patients to find a potential donor and so spreading awareness about it is very important.
Founder of the Maiti Movement Padmashree Kalyan Singh Rawat informed students about decreasing water bodies in the state and said that water is an important aspect of Uttarakhand’s culture and is an integral part of its traditions. Due to the activities of humans, Himalayas, Glaciers, forests and trees are vanishing and as a result water crisis is increasing. He said that not only humans but animals are also getting affected by it. Kalyan Singh Rawat encouraged students for adopting eco- friendly behaviour.
In the programme, CEO of Bisleri Angelo George said that water crisis might have a great impact on all big companies. Almost 14 litres of water is wasted in delivering just one litre water bottle to the consumer. Other drinkables have a higher wastage rate. He said that just like carbon credit introducing water credit concept can prove to be helpful in water conservation and encouraged students to use minimum amount of plastic.
Chairman of Windlass Biotech Ashok Kumar motivated students to bring changes in their habits and coming forward to work towards water conservation. Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan said that the reason of death for most of the people across the globe is unavailability of clean water. Adopting vegetarian diet, using clothes made of natural products and using water with responsibility is necessary for fighting water crisis. Activist and Founder of PACT Dr. Sanjanaa Jon highlighted the importance of being an ethical consumer.
In the programme, Pankhudi from Graphic Era Global School gave a speech on the issue of water crisis. Students from the school received applauses for their dance performance. The programme was hosted by Dr. Deepshikha Shukla. HoD of Department of Fashion Design Dr. Jyoti Chhabra gave the vote of thanks. On this occasion, guests, teachers and students of Graphic Era Deemed University, Graphic Era Hill University and Graphic Era Global School took out a rally to spread awareness about water crisis. Tree plantation was also done after the rally.
The programme was organized by Graphic Era Deemed University’s Department of Civil Engineering and Graphic Era Hill University. Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr. Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Dr. Sanjay Jasola, Deemed University’s Department of Civil Engineering’s HoD Dr. K. K. Gupta and programme co-ordinator Dr. Sanjeev Kumar were also present in the programme.
