Fourth batch of ‘Kailash Mansrowar Yatra’ stuck due to landslides

Pithoragarh, July 19
The 4th batch of ‘Kailash Mansarowar yatra’, had to return back to Dharchula base camp due to closure of road to Gunji at Garbadhar, following landslides triggered by rains in the region.
“While the ongoing fourth batch had to return from midway, the returning first batch of yatra was stuck at Bundi camp. The batch had to reach Dharchula today,” said Ashish Joshi, SDM, Dharchula.
According to district disaster management officer over 18 village roads are still closed today affecting thousands of people living in these villages.
“The BRO machines are speedily removing debris from 300 meters patch of the road and the Gunji road is likely to open by tomorrow only,” said a Kumoan Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) officials quoting Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officers .
