Experts suggest various measures to boost seabuckthorn production at Graphic Era University national conference

Dehradun,  March 6

Experts have suggested various measures including large scale marketing efforts to improve the production of seabuckthorn (badri fruit) at a national conference held at Graphic Era University here today.

Scientists and researchers from Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Panjab, Delhi, Haryana and Odisha are participating in the two national conference. Experts suggested various measures to improve production of badri fruit along with marketing. It includes making better policies, planting it in the border regions, spreading awareness among farmers, using it in food and medicines, developing harvesting technologies and using precision farming.

In the conference, 20 research papers and 24 posters were presented. The winners of these presentations were felicitated in the valedictory session today. In the research paper category, Dr. Vijay Laxmi Trivedi bagged the first position. In the poster presentation’s ecological distribution and genetics diversity catergory, Graphic Era Deemed University’s Anshuman Rawat and Manmohan Patel secured first rank. In the environment conservation and combating climate change category, Jaya Bisht from Garhwal University won the first prize. In the medicinal, pharmaceutical value category, Shalu Chauhan from Zeon Life Sciences, Noida secured the first spot. In the seabuckthorn sustainability and socioeconomic development category, Stanzin Dolma from Govind Ballabh Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Ladakh won the first prize.

The national conference was organized by Graphic Era’s Department of Biotechnology in association with Seabuckthorn Association of India.
