Questions are being raised on state administration’s promise to maintain trolleys installed at various rivers and rivulets during Monsoon season following an incident in which Yashoda Devi, a woman of Tanga village of Bangapani was injured after falling from unmanned trolley in her village last evening.
“The woman, who is under treatment in a private hospital in Pithoragarh town, was injured after she fell from a trolley as there was no guard to manage the trolley as promised by the administration before monsoon,”said Vikram Singh Danu, district president of youth congress and a local resident of Bangapani sub division
According to Danu, the trolleys installed to cross rivers and rivulets in Mankot, Ghururi, Baram, Ghattabagar, Dani Bagar, Motighat,Golpha and Tanga villages, are in a bad shape and mostly rusted. “Some times these trolleys stop midway creating panic amongst those boarding these ,”claimed Danu.

The administration has withdrawn all home guards, and PRD jawans from security and assistance on these trolleys, due to the ongoing Panchayat elections. The students and common citizens are feeling insecurity in crossing these trolleys. “The administration should have kept at least one person at each trolley to help the students and villagers who used these trolleys daily,” said the youth congress leader.
Chandra Pal, a revenue officer in Bangapani sub division has said that as PRD and Home guard jawans have been sent on panchayat election duties, they will be deputed at trolleys soon after the elections are me over.” The efforts will also be done to repair these trolleys to function properly, “said the revenue officer.
