Only four disciplinary action cases against judicial officers in five years despite 258 complaints in Uttarakhand

A total of 258 complaints were registered against the judicial officers and judges of state sub ordinate judiciary in Uttarakhand between January1, 2020 to April 15, 2025. Out of these, disciplinary actions were taken in only four cases against judicial officers or judges of state subordinate judiciary.  This information has been delivered by state information commission chaired by Radha Raturi on February 11, 2026.

The information was sought by Sanjeev Chaturvedi, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer from state information commission.

According to Chaturvedi, he said received the letter concerning information in his query, from state information commission on February11, 2026.”The letter is signed by HS Jeena, joint registrar of Uttarakhand high court from where the information was sought initially”, he said.

According to Chaturvedi, he had sought the said information from Uttarakhand High Court via his application dated June 19, 2025, but had to go to State Information Commission after not getting required information in the first and second departmental appeals. “The State Information Commission, headed by former state Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, had directed the concerned department to give required information to appellant within a period of one month. On that direction, the Uttarakhand High Court has send me letter attached with required information on February 11, 2026,” said Chaturvedi
