International Conference on the role of microbes in development starts

An international conference on the role of microbes in development has commenced at Graphic Era University. In this conference, experts from around the world are discussing the role of microbes in sustainable development, innovative research, and practical solutions.
A two-day international conference on Microbial Innovation for Sustainable Development began today at Graphic Era Deemed University. Addressing the inaugural session as the chief guest, Director of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Dehradun, Dr. M. Madhu said that microbe-based technologies help in increasing soil fertility, reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers, and improving crop productivity and quality. He stated that declining soil health affects nutrition, public health, and national development; therefore, adopting sustainable, microbe-based agricultural practices is extremely essential.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Narpinder Singh said that microbial innovation can play a significant role in addressing the challenges of climate change. It helps in reducing carbon emissions, improving waste management, and promoting green technologies.
The two-day international conference will have six technical sessions, in which practical discussions will be held on topics such as bioremediation and environmental sustainability, microbe-based approaches for crop productivity and plant protection, industrial applications of microbes, and food microbiology and safety. Scientists, researchers, and experts from 10 countries and 16 states will present their research papers, abstracts, and solutions.
The international conference has been jointly organized by the Department of Microbiology of Graphic Era Deemed University, UCOST, UCB, PMMIT Society, and MBSI. Registrar Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Head of the Department of Microbiology Dr. Anju Rani, Prof. Pankaj Gautam, Dr. Saurav Gangola, Dr. Debasish Mitra, other faculty members, and students were present at the conference. The program was conducted by Dr. Divya Venugopal.

An initiative was taken at Graphic Era University to connect students with India’s rich cultural, intellectual, and scientific heritage. Various activities were organized at Graphic Era Deemed University under the NEP SAARTHI initiative as part of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS). The program began with Vice Chancellor Dr. Narinder Singh cutting the cake,today.

Several activities such as Shlok Sangram, Create from Culture, Roots Reloaded, and Separate the Myth from the Manuscript were conducted, in which students participated enthusiastically. These activities provided students with an opportunity to learn while also gaining a deeper understanding of Indian culture.
The program was organized by the NEP SAARTHI team of Graphic Era Deemed University. NEP SAARTHI Coordinator Dr. Sudhir Joshi, Co-Coordinators Dr. Gagan Bansal and Prabhat Singh, along with other faculty members and students, were present at the event.
