First motor bridge connecting Nepal in Pithoragarh to be completed soon

The first under construction motor bridge on river Kali connecting India and Nepal in Charchum village of Dharchula tehhil in Pithoragarh district will be completed in three months’ time from as the approach road from main road, to the bridge on both sides are being constructed, according to Pithoragarh District Magistrate.
“While reviewing construction projects at border region with Indo-Nepal and Indo-China border, we have been told by Arun Arora, executive engineer of state PWD, the construction agency, that after the approach roads from both sides of India and Nepal gets completed it would be declared as completed, “said the DM.
The District Magistrate also said that to construct a land custom station at bridge site, the concerned department has been told to select the land soon to facilitate construction of a land custom station at the bridge “This facility will smoothen the commerce across the border after the motor bridge gets inaugurated in future,” said the DM.
The bridge, which is almost completed at Indo-Nepal border, at Charchum village near Dharchula town, will be significant from point of view of border security as well. “After more than 100 years old motor bridge at Indo-Nepal border at Banbasa in Champawat district, the Charchum motor bridge is second such bridge in Uttarakhand state and first in hilly region of the state,” said Pithoragarh DM.
The 110 meters long and 10.50 wide with 7.5 meters carriage way,motor bridge at Indo -Nepal border, was laid by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on September 18, 2022.
