‘Himalayan Cultural Carnival’ likely to be held at Pithoragarh in Oct 2026

Pithoragarh, March 11

The first ‘Himalayan cultural carnival’, showcasing cultural, crafts and other local arts traditions of Himalayan states from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh and facilitating cultural identity of Uttarakhand state at National level is likely to be organised in the month of October this year in Pithoragarh district. This was disclosed by Pithoragarh District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgai after concluding a meeting of concerned officials in this connection

“The carnival, that is being organised in the state for the first time, giving opportunity to Pithoragarh district to host it, will have cultural, crafts, painting, photography and food teams from each Himalayan state showcasing their distinction and variety in these spheres, “said the DM.

The District Magistrate has ordered to form different committees of experts in this connection in today’s meeting.”The formation of various committees for the Carnival early will help the district prepare better for the such a grand programme,” said the DM.

“The states, to be invited for the carnival, included, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. The cultural teams to be invited from these states will represent folk cultural and traditions of respective Himalayan state,” said Ashish Bhatgai. All cultural programs will be organised at Dev Singh Bisht ground and Ramlila Maidan of district headquarter.
