SSB white water rafting on river Kali flagged off

Pithoragarh, March 16
The 55th battalion of Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) today launched a white-water rafting expedition on river Kali at Indo-Nepal border village of Jauljibi. The expedition was flagged off by Amit Kumar, Director General of the border guarding force at border headquarter Ranikhet. Pithoragarh District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgai was also present at flagging off ceremony as chief guest.
“The expedition being organised with the intention to increase river water management capacity of jawans, will travel 150 km from Jauljibi in Pithoragarh border to Boom, the border with Nepal situated in Champawat district,” said Sudhanshu Nautiyal, DIG of SSB and leader of the expedition.
According to Nautiyal, 38 participants with 6 rafts and 2 kayaks are taking part in the expedition that will reach at Boom headquarter of 57th bn of SSB on March 19.
“The expedition also aimed to train SSB jawans in swift water rescue missions in future and is being organised on the lines of ‘Fit India and Khelo India’ programmes launched by the Government of India, ” said the SSB officer.
