Uttarakhand Kramti Dal (UKD) youth leader Ashish Negi has called for cultural strength to be recognised as a separate entity in the entire country.

“Whereas we would have felt stronger with our distinct Himalayan languages and culture but we are simply being treated as a subordinate of other cultural identities,”said Ashish Negi, addressing a “Vyawastha Pariwartan” rally in Pithoragarh today.

Kashi Singh Airi, the seniormost leader of the party said in his address that the state was possible only due to the struggle led by UKD. “We today remember Dr DD Pant, Indramani Badoni and several other revolutionaries who laid their lives in Mussoorie and Khatima, martyring their lives for the cause of state,” said Airi.

“Despite 26 years of separate statehood, our jobs are being allocated to persons from outside the state and our natural resources are being gifted to people with huge moneybags,” said Negi

“We will have to answer our job snatchers by fighting  on the slogan of, “Jai Pahar, Jai Pahari,” he added.

The “Vyawastha Pariwartan” rally was called by UKD Pithoragarh unit and the party  leaders from across the state took part in it.

“Before a large gathering at Ramlila ground, a big procession was carried by the party members starting from DS Bist ground to Ramlila ground.

UKD leaders called to fight to preserve natural resources of state for the future generations of the state. “Due to been negligent towards these serious issues, we have become tenants in our own land,” said Negi.

The party attacked those elements who are spreading atmosphere of hate among the communities living in the state since centuries and said that UKD workers will have to fight those who are poisoning the political atmosphere of the state.” Our founders have once given the slogan, “Uttarakhand Ke char Sipahi, Hindu Muslim, Sikh, Isai”, we have to maintain that sprit,” said K.S Airi, one of the founder of the party

The party leaders at the rally claimed that the popularity of UKD is increasing and opponents are getting afraid trying to divide people in the name of religion and caste.
