Pithoragarh Medical College begins counselling for first batch

Counselling for seven All India Quota seats for the maiden batch of students at Pithoragarh Medical College began on September 22, with the admission process scheduled to continue from October 1 to 9 this year. Dr A.K. Singh, principal of the medical college, said.
The medical college has been officially named Swargiya Jagjiwan Ram Medical College, Pithoragarh, after the late Babu Jagjiwan Ram, said Dr Singh.
“After admissions to the seven All India Quota seats, the admission process for the remaining 43 seats under the state quota will begin from October 9 and continue till October 16. A total of 50 MBBS seats have been sanctioned for the medical college by the National Medical Commission,” the principal said.
Asked whether the college has adequate faculty and other basic facilities to conduct classes for the first batch, Dr Singh said the institution has the required faculty in place as per the standards prescribed by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
“The National Medical Commission has separate standards for different numbers of students. We have been granted permission to admit 50 students in the first year as we have fulfilled the prescribed standards for a batch of 50 students,” he said.
