Over 1,300 runners to participate in second Adi Kailash Parikrama Run
Pithoragarh, Oct 17
More than 1,300 runners from across the country will participate in the second Adi Kailash Parikrama Run, scheduled to be held in the high-altitude Adi Kailash region of Pithoragarh district from October 24 to 26.
“Our team visited all the designated points along the route, from Chiyalekh and Bundi to Gunji, Nabi Rongkong and Kuti, and inspected the arrangements being made for the runners,” said Pithoragarh Chief Development Officer (CDO) Dr Deepak Saini.
Saini, accompanied by Dharchula Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ashish Joshi and Tourism Department Deputy Director Atul Bhandari, visited the region to review preparations for the event.
According to the CDO, the team also sought the cooperation of the Army, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) and local villagers in organising the event. Separate meetings were held with these stakeholders to discuss the arrangements.
“The event is being organised to promote adventure tourism in this border region and involve local villagers in tourism-related activities, thereby helping minimise migration from these remote areas,” Saini said.
The Adi Kailash Parikrama Run will feature five categories, ranging from a 70-km ultra-run to full and half marathons of 42 km and 21 km, respectively, along with 10-km and 5-km runs.
