To prepare for the Ultra marathon race, being organised at Gunji on November 2, this year, the administration has stopped issuing inner line permits for ‘Adi Kailash’ yatra pilgrims from today, according to Jitendra Verma, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Dharchula and nodal officer of yatra.

“We have decided to issue only essential inner line permits for the route till 28th October from today, while total ban on passes will be maintained from October 28th till November 3. The process will resume after November 3, this year,” said the SDM.

An Ultra Marathon race, named as ‘Adi Kailash Parikrama Run 2025’, the first such event in the state, will be held on November 2, this year. Athletes from 20 states of the country will participate in the men and women categories.

“This system has been activated to manage sufficient lodging boarding facilities for ultra marathon racers for which over 800 have registered from all over the country and foreign countries,” said the SDM.

Pithoragarh District Magistrate Asish Bhatgai along with other civil and police officials reached Gunji to oversee the arrangements. A total of 32986 pilgrims have visited ‘Adi Kailash’ this year in two phases till date. “We have issued 172 inner line passes on Wednesday only,” said the SDM.
