Sukesh. C.Khajuria seeks impartial probe into murder of Rakesh khajuria
Jammu, Aug 17
Eminent sr.social activist Sukesh. C. Khajuria has expressed his deep dismay at the lackadaisical approach of the Udhampur police in the case of mysterious death of RakeshKhajuria, a gent’s tailor master who went missing from his home on August 1, 2022 at Udhampur city and later found dead a week later.
Khajuria said that the attitude of the police has been quite slow in searching RakeshKhajuria who was seen coming out of his house in the CCTV camera and then getting into a car. His family had lodged a missing report with the police but probably no serious efforts were made to trace him or to locate the car in which he was seen getting into. His dead body was found a week later near the Raj Palace. The body bore injury marks with both eyes gouged out and one of his foot thumb amputated.
Sukesh C.Khajuria said that RakeshKhajuria’s case is a classic case of police negligence and its callous attitude towards performing of their duties of the administrative as well political leadership of the district. He alleged that it was a fit case for lodging FIR u/s 302 IPC as the circumstances warrant so but udhampur police started inquest proceeding U/s 174 Crpc.
A special investigation team (SIT)has been constituted under the supervision of DySp, Headquarters, udhampur for carrying out the inquest proceedings regarding the mysterious missing and murder of RakeshKhajuria s/o KunjBehari, R/o H.no. 23, ward number15 near old BSNL office, Udhampur, initiated by DDR no.18 dated August 07, 2022 by police station, Udhampur. The other members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) are ChamanLalGorka, inspector, SI Kaku Ram, PSI Lalit Sharma, ASI Sant Kumar and Head Constable Abdul Qayoom.
SukeshC.Khajuria said despite the request of the family members of the deceased to get a certified copy of the DDR, till date it has not been provided to them. He further said that the past record of the Udhampur police in investigating murder cases in the past had been dismissive. He said that he had requested the SSP Udhampuras well as the Additional deputy commissioner Udhampurto get the post-mortem of the deceased done in the presence of magistrate by a team/board of doctors which should be video graphed for greater transparency. He said that he also requested that forensic experts and all scientific and technological tools nowadays available should be employed in cracking this case and samples should be preserved for clinical and forensic investigation if required.
The social activist said that the condition of body of the deceased indicated that it was a clear case of murder after torture. “It is the duty of the police to solve the mystery behind the alleged murder and the motives behind such a heinous crime,” he added.
Sukesh C. Khajuria said that it was the duty of the state as per Article 21 of the Constitution to provide security to its citizens. But in this case, the state with it’s’ instruments of power completely failed in fulfilling its constitutional mandate. “Moreover, the administration and the political bigwigs showed complete lack of sensitivity after this tragic incident. None of the administrative officials visited the bereaved family to offer its’ condolence or any monetary compensation since the deceased was the only earning member of the family. The politicians of the district who tweet on every trivial matter completely decided to ignore such a tragic incident in their area,” he lamented.
Sukesh.C. Khajuria called upon the police and administrative officials of the district to show sensitivity in not only providing succour to the family but also giving justice to them at the earliest.
