Hindi writers from across the country converge at Graphic Era for ‘Shabdavali’ festival

Dehradun, Sept 27

Eminent writers from across the country gathered at Graphic Era University today to participate in the Hindi Literature Festival named ‘Shabdavali’. The event, oraganized jointly by Graphic Era Hill University and Valley of Words has commenced today.

The three day ‘Shabdavali’ – Hindi Sahitya Sammelan avam Rajbhasha Pakhwada was inaugurated this morning with the lamp lighting ceremony by chief guest, renowned poet Dr. Pravin Shukla. He emphasized on the importance of Hindi literature and said that literature should evolve with time but we should maintain connection the mother tongue. He encouraged the students to perform better in Hindi language and to engage more in writing.

Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University, Dr. Sanjay Jasola highlighted the significance of Hindi language and said that Hindi is the foundation for cultural and intellectual development. He urged the students to read the book ‘Hum Bharat ke rajya ke log’ as it will prove to be very helpful in understanding Hindi literature and Indian society. He motivated the students to study Hindi literature and writing and inspired them to give more active contribution in the field of literature.

India’s Surveyor General Hitesh S. Makhwana shared his experiences with Dr. Sanjeev Chopra and highlighted the importance of books. He informed about how this book will give an important contribution and also analysed the maps presented in it.

On this occasion, Uttarakhand’s traditional ‘mangal geet’ was beautifully sung by Team ‘Nandas’. In the first session, the third edition of the book ‘Sada Neer’ was launched. Afterwards, bringing the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand to life, team ‘Devasthali’ and ‘Uttarayani’ performed captivating Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari dances. The book ‘Hum Bharat ke Rajya ke Log’, written by Dr. Sanjeev Chopra and translated by Sachin Chauhan was also launched.

In the afternoon session, renowned authors and poets shared experiences of their poems, writing process and literary research. On this occasion, a painting exhibition was also organised, which grabbed the attention of art enthusiasts. In the upcoming sessions of this three day literary fest, literacy discussions, kavi sammelan and cultural activities will continue to be the centre of attraction.

Fashion show on Sept 28

Dehradun, 27 September: A fashion show named ‘Tasva’ will be organized in Graphic Era Hill University tomorrow (28 September). Students will present garments collection based on sustainability. Celebrity Designer Dr. Sanjanaa Jon will be the chief guest of the event. Students will showcase garment collection based on the themes ranging from indigenous natural resources, languishing crafts and tribes of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh,  Nagaland, etc. These garment collections are created by the students. The fashion show is being organized by the Department of Fashion Design of the university.
