Helicopter carrying CEC made emergency landing

The helicopter carrying Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner of India, who was going to Milam glacier had an emergency landing at Ralam village of Munsiyari in Pithoragarh district at 1.30 pm today due to  bad weather conditions.Ralam village is situated at 42 km from Munsiyari on way to Milam glacier.

“I, had talked with the Chief Election Commissioner twice after he’s helicopter made an emergency landing. He and his companions are well, “said Vinod Girish Goswami, District Magistrate, Pithoragarh.

According to DM, the CEC his team waited for the weather to clear during the afternoon. “If weather gets clear, he will be taken back to Munsiyari otherwise he will stay at the ITBP camp near Ralam,”added the DM.

The Chief Election Commissioner, along with Additional Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand Vijay Kumar Jogdande, and a security personal flew from Munsiyari at 1.00 pm and proceeded towards Milam in the helicopter but had to land at ralam due to bad weather.
