Effective communication is not just about words

Dehradun, October 1

The teachers and researchers were introduced to various dimensions of education, research, communication, online learning, and professional skills at a three-day Professional Development Program was organized under the title “Unnyan,” at Graphic Era Deemed University.

On this occasion, Head of Personality Development Department Dr. Sakshi Gupta said that effective communication is not just about words, but also about gestures, body language, and expressions. Facial expressions, hand movements, and body posture—these small things leave a deep impact on a person’s personality. Dr. Gupta emphasized that such non-verbal cues are the key to success not only in professional life but also in personal life. She advised students to focus on their soft skills and communication abilities, so that they can leave a positive impact in every sphere of life.

The core objective of this three-day program was not to limit students and research scholars only to academic knowledge, but also to help them develop practical, communicative, and professional skills. Through various sessions, they were exposed to the National Education Policy, social-emotional learning, research and classroom management, digital-age challenges, online learning, and the importance of non-verbal communication. These activities made participants realize that along with teaching and research, effective communication, body language, and soft skills are equally important.

The program was organized by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of Graphic Era Deemed University. The event was attended by Registrar Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Head of HRDC Dr. Bharti Sharma, SWAYAM Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Gopal Krishna Dwivedi, along with other faculty members and students.
