The two-day ‘Rangotsav’ of Rangayan Association, a leading cultural and social organization of Uttarakhand, concluded  with the staging of the play ‘Ajab Gajab Ki Pathshala’ and the felicitation program of the leading theatre artists of the state in the IRDT auditorium on Monday.
On the second day of the ‘Rangotsav’, the chief guest, Suryakant Dhasmana, senior vice president of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee, inaugurated the event along with senior theatre artists by lighting the lamp. The play, “Ajab Gajab Ki Pathshala,” was directed and adapted by Nivedita Baunthiyal, director of the Rangayan Association. Thirty-two artists from Dehradun gave an impressive display of their talents in the play.

“Ajab Gajab Pathshala” features singing, dancing, satire, and entertainment, as well as an inspiring message for children. At the end of the play, the school teacher teaches the children that following the right path and doing good deeds will yield good results, while following the wrong path and doing bad deeds will always yield bad results.

The actors participating in the play were Navneet Gairola, Vikas Rawat, Aditya Gupta, Sushma Barthwal, Amit Baukhandi, Kunal Pawar, Pratyush Kaushal, Amit Semwal, Dhananjay Kukreti, and others. Music direction for the play was provided by Vikas Rawat, and songs were sung by Priya Uniyal and Rahul Singh Shah. The audience greatly appreciated the performances of all the actors.
After the completion of the play, Rangayan Association honoured senior theatre artists of the state, Avi Nanda,  Mukesh Dhasmana and  Gajendra Verma by presenting them “Rangayan Samman” and presenting them with shawls for their dedication and invaluable contribution to theatre and art.
On this occasion, the chief guest, Suryakant Dhasmana, Senior Vice President of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee, said that in the 1980s and 1990s, Dehradun was a hub of cultural and theatrical activities, with numerous cultural organizations and groups regularly arranging the stage. He added that there was a time when Dehradun’s theatre lovers would buy tickets to attend plays. He added that national-level poetry conferences and mushairas were held in the city, sometimes at the Rangers College Ground and sometimes at the MKP College Ground, and audiences had to arrive early to secure seats.  Dhasmana added that after the formation of the separate state of Uttarakhand, literary, artistic, and musical activities in the state capital, instead of flourishing, were on the verge of extinction. Congratulating the President of the Rangayan Association and her entire team, Mr. Dhasmana said that their efforts have raised hopes that Dehradun will once again become a hub of literature, art, and music.
Expressing gratitude to all the guests, art lovers and audience, Nivedita Baunthiyal, President of Rangayan Association, said that if we continue to get support from art lovers and artists in this manner, then we will definitely once again restore the old glorious position of Dehradun in the field of art, culture and music.
