Shergill congratulates Channi on speaking the truth about sycophancy in Congress
Chandigarh, June 9
BJP National Spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill has demanded a clarification from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge on the PhD Thesis of former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, wherein the latter has flagged “sycophancy” as the main reason behind the debacle of the Congress party.
In a release issued today, Shergill cited reports in electronic media that Channi has done his PhD from the Panjab University, Chandigarh and his research topic was ‘Indian National Congress: A study of Central Organisation and Electoral Strategies in the Lok Sabha Elections since 2004’.
Since the main finding of the research of Channi’s Thesis as per media reports is, “Sycophancy is the main reason behind the disastrous situation of the Congress. Sycophants have a special place in the party and Congress leadership is dependent upon them. This tribe of such people is increasing at a rapid pace in Congress.”
Shergill said that Congress leadership, not less than the party president Mallikarjun Kharge, should give a clarification. He further said that as per media reports, significantly, Channi’s Thesis also mentioned that the tussle between the state units of the Congress is at its peak, adding that local leaders are being weakened, so the state leadership of Punjab should also give clarification on Channi’s Thesis that whether they find weakened with Rahul Gandhi’s ways or not. “What Channi is saying is a bitter truth. We congratulate Channi for showing courage and speaking the truth”, he added.
Shergill also pointed out that when he resigned from the Congress, he had written in a letter to the then Congress President Sonia Gandhi that “sycophancy is eating Congress like termites”. “Now, since the former CM Channi, who was handpicked by none other than Rahul Gandhi, had himself mentioned all this in his Thesis, Kharge owes an immediate explanation”, the BJP spokesperson demanded.
