Dehradun, June 21

A program on ‘International Yoga Day’ was organized by Sanjay Orthopaedic, Spine and Maternity Centre, Doon Vihar, Jakhan, Rajpur Road, Dehradun and SHEWA Society,here today. Padma Shri recipient, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. B. K. S. Sanjay emphasized the importance of yoga for healthy and happy life. He said, in addition to diet, exercise, work and sleep (DEWS), half an hour to an hour of yoga is beneficial to maintain the healthy and happy life.

“The practice of Yoga not only helps to maintain better physical health but can also be used as a tool for stress management which has been further proved by many biofeedback studies,” he said. Padma Shri recipient orthopaedic surgeon B. K. S. Sanjay urges to all to make yoga a habit as yoga is a no cost health booster. The habit of Yoga, regulated breathing and meditation should be one of the lifestyle activities irrespective of the caste, creed, region and religion to maintain the physical, mental, social, psychological and spiritual health, he added. Yoga instructor Yogacharya Pooja Mehra and Swati gave instruction to the hospital staff.
