After Ankita Bhandari murder case, another gang rape-murder case involving BJP leaders hit Uttarakhand

After the infamous Ankita Bhandari murder case who was allegedly murdered by her employer, son of a senior RSS functionary near Rishikesh in 2022, another gang rape and murder case involving a leader of ruling BJP from Roorkee has created a storm in Uttarakhand.

The Bahadarbad police station in Haridwar district has registered a case of gang rape and murder against BJP leader Adityaraj Saini and his accomplice Amit Saini following discovery of a body of a young girl hailing from Shantarshah area from near Patanjali Research Centre on Tuesday morning. Uttarakhand BJP Chief Mahender Bhatt has sacked Adityaraj Saini, who is a member of the State Other Back Ward Classes (OBC) Commission from the party. His other accomplice Amit Saini is husband of a village ‘Pardhan’ (Chief).

Bimla, mother of the deceased girl in her complaint to the police charged that Amit Saini had been physically exploiting her daughter on the pretext of marrying her. But on on June 23, Amit Saini took the girl with him and since then she had been untraceable. On contacting Adityaraj Saini with whom Amit Saini work, the former reportedly assured the mother that he would sort out the issue and there was no need to approach the police.          

Both the accused were arrested by the police following intense pressure from the public who refused to cremate the body till the arrest of the alleged culprits.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Congress Committee has strongly condemned the Uttarakhand government for it’s overall failure. Garima Dasauni, spokesperson of the party addressing a press conference here today charged that there has been a complete breakdown of law and situation in the state as evident from ever increasing cases particularly those involving atrocities against women.
