National bone and joint day celebrated by Dehradun Orthopaedic Society
Dehradun, August 4
On occasion of National Bone and Joint Day, a day long programme was organised by Dehradun Orthopaedic Society and Society for Health, Education and Women Empowerment Awareness (SHEWA), here today. In addition to the scientific programme, the past and present presidents and secretaries of Dehradun Orthopaedic Society were felicitated by Dr. Tara Arya, Director General Health Services (DGHS),Uttarakhand who was the chief guest on the occasion including Founder President of Uttaranchal Chapter of Indian Orthopaedic Association Padma Shri Dr. B. K. S. Sanjay and President of Dehradun Orthopaedic Society Dr. S. N. Singh. Dr. Sanjay Jain, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dehradun was also present.
Indian Orthopaedic Association is celebrating National Bone and Joint Day on 4th August since 2012. There is tradition in the world to celebrate various days based on the various health issues. National Bone and Joint Day is celebrated to spread the awareness about the health issues related to the bone and joint.
Padma Shri Dr. Sanjay said that locomotion plays an important role to maintain the health of the vital organs like heart, lung and brain etc. He said in fact, the health of the hands and feet is as important as that of heart and lungs. Dr Sanjay appealed to the doctors to maintain their own health and spread the awareness to the general public about the importance of the muscular skeleton system. He gave the acronym DEWS (Diet, Exercise, Work and Sleep) for the healthy and happy life and said that yoga, exercise and sleep are no cost health boosters.
Chief guest of the program Dr. Tara Arya DGHS of Uttarakhand said that the needs of the healthcare services of the remote and hilly areas are different than that of urban plain and city areas where the back pain and the joint pain are common problems for that there is dire need of orthopaedic services. Government of Uttarakhand is committed to improve the orthopaedic services in these areas.
Dr S. N. Singh President of Dehradun Orthopaedic Society said that orthopaedic surgeons plays an important role to maintain the bone and joint health of the general public and it is their duty to spread the awareness about musculoskeletal health. Dr. Gaurav Sanjay Joint Secretory of the society express the gratitude of the chief guest, past and present office bearer of the society and the delegates participated in the program.
Dr Sudhir Gupta, Dr JP Nawani, Dr VK Nautiyal, Dr Anand Goyal, Dr HK Joshi, Dr BKS Sanjay, Dr HK Johri, Dr Harish Kohli, Dr DC Nautiyal, Dr SK Gupta, Dr SN Singh, Dr Romesh Gaur, Dr Rajeev Dwivedi, Dr Saurabh Mehra, Dr Praveen Mittal, Dr Gaurav Sanjay were felicitated during program. Sanjay Orthopaedic, Spine and Maternity Centre is organising a week-long program of free consultation on 5 August, free BMD on 6 August, free surgery on 7-8 August, free physiotherapy services on 9-10 August will be given to the orthopaedic patients.
