India to soon launch Artificial Intelligence Mission: Jitin Prasada
Dehradun, Nov 21
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada has said that the dominance of any country in the world would depend on its strong presence in the cyber world in future.
Jitin Prasada was addressing students at an event organized on the topic “Empowering a Digital India” held at Graphic Era’s Silver Jubilee Convention Centre, here today.
The Union Minister said that the technological advancements are occurring at a rapid speed globally as earlier, items like television and mobile phones were considered to be a luxury but today in India alone there are more than 100 crore mobile phones and more than 8 crore internet connections.
He further said that the level of digital literacy of the country is good and is helping people in starting new and successful businesses. “Very soon an Artificial Intelligence mission similar to semi conductor mission will be launched which would open up more job opportunities for youngsters in various fields such as health, education and infrastructure and India would develop as a hub of technology,” he said.
Jitin Prasada said that India is strengthening its position in the cyber sector and many opportunities are available in this field for young minds. However, the risks associated with cyber threats are also increasing as cyber criminals are constantly evolving their methods with technological advancements. To fight the criminals, youngsters should contribute to the cyber field and make it safer for the general public. He urged the students to respect their parents and teachers and to always remain humble in life.
Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Dr. Sanjay Jasola expressed gratitude towards Prasada for his visit. On this occasion, the podcast of Graphic Era, ‘GEHU Talkies’ was launched.
The event was organized by Department of Media and Mass Communication. Pro Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Prof. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor Dr. Narpinder Singh, HoD Dr. Taha Siddiqui, other officials, faculty members and students of both universities were present in the event.
