UPCL has laid more than 6000 km of power lines in the last two years

Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has made unprecedented progress in the power distribution sector by providing electricity to every village, every house of the state and laying more than 6000 Kms of power lines in the past two years.
Under the able leadership and continuous efforts of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, UPCL has made positive changes in the lifestyle of the general public by providing uninterrupted power at reasonable rates . To give more impetus to the extensive changes taking place in the development of the industrial sector of Uttarakhand, the power distribution sector has become strong and prosperous. In the past years, UPCL has taken important steps to establish a strong power distribution system as well as to improve operational and business efficiency.
To meet the ever-increasing demand of power, UPCL has constructed 04 new 33/11 kV substations in 02 years and installed about 242 km 33 kV, 2045 km 11 kV and 4101 km LT lines across the state. About 8266 distribution transformers have been installed to maintain power balance on all feeders across the state. Also, 1,89,804 new electrical connections have been installed in the last 02 years.
Special emphasis is also being laid on the implementation of the future projects to ensure high quality power supply to consumers. Under the RDSS scheme of the Government of India, the installation of smart prepaid meters for about 16 lakh consumers across the state will prove to be a boon for the consumers. Along with this, smart meters will also be installed on 59212 distribution transformers and 2602 feeders to improve energy accounting, which will increase the digitalization, automation and efficiency of the power system and also reduce power losses.
