‘Adi Kailash’ peak temple to close on Nov 5

The gates of ‘Shiv- Parwati’ temple, situated at ‘Adi Kailash’ peak in Jolingkong region of Vyans valley of Pithoragarh district will be closed on November 5, this year keeping the possible snowfall in the 14500 feet high Himalayan region, according to Gopal Singh Kutiyal, chief priest of the temple. The closing ceremony of ‘Shiv Parwati’ will be held according to ‘Rung’ tribal tradition.
“However, the process of issuing inner line passes for ‘Adi Kailash yatra’, will continue thereafter if weather conditions remain friendly,” said Jitendra Verma, SDM of Dharchula sub division.
“The temple gates, that traditionally close on the auspicious occasion of ‘Kartik Purnima’ every year, will be opened next year in the month of May,” said the chief priest of the temple.
The SDM, Dharchula said that a total of 33728 pilgrims had visited ‘Adi Kailash’ ,’Parwati Kund’, ‘Gauri Kund’, ‘Shiv Parwati’ temple and ‘Om Parvat’ in two phases till date this year. The pilgrims to Adi Kailash increased after a visit of Prime Minister Narender Modi to the region in October 2023. His visit also gave a boost to adventure tourism in the Vyans valley region close to Indo-China border.
