All India Power Engineers Federation’s National Working Committee to meet in Dehradun on March 8
Dehradun, Marc h 7
An important meeting of the National Working Committee of the All India Power Engineers Federation is being held in Dehradun tomorrow. Disclosing this, Federation Chairman Shailendra Dubey and Secretary General P. Ratnakar Rao stated that the meeting will discuss in detail the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 being introduced by the Central Government in the Budget Session of Parliament and the ongoing process of privatization of electricity in the country and states. The federation propose to take important decisions on the future strategy.
Both the leaders stated that the issue of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 being introduced in Parliament on March 10th has caused widespread anger among power employees and engineers across the country. The Federation’s National Working Committee meeting in Dehradun will discuss this issue extensively and determine the future strategy.
Federation officials stated that a strong resolution will be passed at the meeting opposing the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the proposed National Electricity Policy 2026. The Federation believes that these policies are attempting to promote privatization in the country’s power sector, which will have serious adverse effects on electricity consumers, farmers, employees, and engineers.
They stated that the central government’s decision to link financial assistance to various conditions to promote the privatization of power distribution companies is also highly objectionable, a move the Federation has consistently opposed. This issue will also be discussed in detail at the National Working Committee meeting.
They stated that presidents, general secretaries, and other officials of electrical engineers’ associations from approximately 18 states across the country are arriving to participate in the National Working Committee meeting to be held in Dehradun. Representatives from several states have already arrived in Dehradun.
Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Council Committee Chairman Sanjay Singh Chauhan and General Secretary Singh Gurjar are specially attending the Dehradun meeting.
The Federation believes that privatization policies in the power sector are not only against the interests of workers and engineers but will also create serious hardship for farmers and ordinary electricity consumers. Therefore, a broad national-level struggle will be outlined on this issue.
