Preparations for ‘Kailash Mansarowar Yatra’ in full swing

Preparations for smooth organisation of ‘Kailash Mansarovar yatra’ 2026, have started as first batch of ‘Kailash Mansarowar yatra’ this year will reach Dharchula base camp on July 5.
The officials of Kumoan Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) , the state government tourism body which is conducting the yatra said that the first batch will reach Tanakpur from New Delhi on night of July 4 and would leave for Dharchula the next day morning. “The first batch will cross over to Tibet on July 10 and will return back to Lipulekh pass after completing their yatra in Tibet, on July 18,” said Dhan Singh, in charge of base camp of nodal agency at Dharchula.
A preparatory meeting for KM Yatra this year was taken by district magistrate here today. ” We have instructed all concerned departments to carry on preparations for the yatra according to the itinerary of yatra,” said the DM.
“While the CMO has been asked to get ready, base hospital level medical facilities for pilgrims, Army, BRO and ITBP have been requested to take up to date care of road, security and chronic land slide zones in the road, leading to Gunji camp of Yatra,” said the DM.
High quality basic facilities like stay, meals, drinking water and sanitation will be provided to pilgrim batches.
“The Kailash Mansarowar yatra from Lipulekh pass this year, will have 10 batches of pilgrims comprising 50 pilgrims each batch and totalling 500 pilgrims this year.” said Ashish Bhatgai, District Magistrate, Pithoragarh.
The KMVN, the nodal agency for the yatra has arranged 12 vehicles to ferry the pilgrims to Lipulekh pass, last point of pilgrimage inside Indian territory.
