MBBS Seats Increased to 250

Dehradun, August 6: Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences has set a new benchmark in medical education in Uttarakhand. The number of MBBS seats at the institute has been increased to 250. For the first time in the state’s history, a medical college has been granted approval for 250 MBBS seats in just its third MBBS batch.

In a short span of time, Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences has established a remarkable reputation for excellence in medical education, earning recognition at the national level. World-class academic, healthcare facilities and laboratories, high-tech medical equipment, a modern teaching system, experienced faculty, and advanced healthcare services offered through its multi-specialty hospital have given the institution a distinct identity. Recognizing these high standards, quality medical education, and outstanding institutional infrastructure, the National Medical Commission (NMC)  has approved an increase in MBBS seats to 250 seats. Admissions for the current academic session will be conducted through the central counselling process.

Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences is also known for several landmark achievements. The institute successfully treated a five-year-old child using the POEM technique for the first time in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, giving the child a new lease on life. It has successfully treated 50 patients with blocked food pipes using the non-surgical POEM technique. It also became the first institution in Uttarakhand and the neighbouring states to replace a heart valve without open-heart surgery using the TEER technique. The institute successfully saved the eyesight of two premature newborns and became the first medical college in the country to receive NABH accreditation under the sixth edition standards, comprising more than 600 quality benchmarks.

Congratulating the entire medical college team on this achievement, Chairman of the Graphic Era Group of Institutions, Dr. Kamal Ghanshala said that students at Graphic Era Medical College are receiving global-standard medical education with access to the latest technologies and guidance from experts in their respective fields. He said that the institution’s objective is not merely to produce doctors, but to nurture compassionate, technologically skilled, and service-oriented medical professionals who serve society with empathy. This is true service to humanity, and we are proud of it, he added.

Everyone celebrated the achievement by cutting a cake.
