School children expedition to East Nanda Devi base camp flagged off

Pithoragarh, May 19
A group of 30 school children, from various schools of the district, was today flagged off by Pithoragarh District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgai for 14600 meters high trekking route of east Nanda Devi region.
“The trekking expedition led by experienced trekkers, Ashok Bhandari and Surendra Panwar, will travel 165 km by vehicles and will trek over 60 km from there to reach the said trekking destination, ” said Kirti Arya, District Tourism Officer, Pithoragarh.
The expedition will return on 26th May.
“The trekking expedition will be able to imbibe courage, discipline, self confidence among the youths and make them understand nature and Himalayan culture,” said the Pithoragarh DM, while flagging off the expedition.
