Commercial flights start from Naini-Saini airport linking Pithoragarh with national capital

The border district of Pithoragarh on Indo-China border in Uttarakhand was today linked with national capital New Delhi by air as first commercial flight reached Naini- Saini airport, here from New Delhi airport today.
“The 42 seater aircraft of Alliance Air company will run it’s flight thrice a week from Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, New Delhi to Pithoragarh which started today,” said Deepak Saini, airport manager of Pithoragarh airport.
“A total of 21 passenger including senior BJP leader Ganesh Bhabdari reached Pithoragarh from Delhi while 27 passengers including Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta went to Delhi from Pithoragarh in inaugural return flight today,” said Deepak Saini ,Chief Development Officer (CDO) and airport manager of Pithoragarh airport.
The long awaited air service was flagged off by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami from Delhi today. Several top BJP and Congress leaders including former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, and Pithoragarh Congress MLA Mayukh Singh Mahar spoke on the occasion and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state Chief Minister Dhami for letting the border district linked with Delhi and Dehradun.
According to the airport manager, the air service from Pithoragarh to Delhi was earlier inaugurated by the Chief Minister on March 13, this year.” After successful landing trials by Alliance Air company, the pilots were specially trained in Bengaluru before final trials in October this year,” said Saini.
The district is already linked by air with Pantnagar, Dehradun and Haldwani, as a 19 seater aircraft of Heritage Aviation and a helicopter of Pawan Hans Helicopter company fly to Pantnagar, Dehradun and Haldwani respectively, from Pithoragarh on daily basis.
