Workshop on Earth Observational Data held at Graphic Era University
Dehradun, Nov 30
Scientists and experts have called upon students to work on sensing techniques to deal with natural disasters on the concluding day of the six-day long workshop on Landslide Using Earth Observational Data held at Graphic Era Deemed University, here.
Group Director of IRDE, Dr. Manvendra Singh addressing the valedictory session of the workshop, as the chief guest said that disasters like landslides are a permanent problem of the state. To deal with this, it is necessary to adopt prediction methods such as sensing technology and data collection techniques. Dr. Singh said that after rains on the mountains, roads often get closed due to landslides. Due to this people face problems in traffic. For this, it is necessary that future engineers find new solutions to overcome these problems. Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University, Dr. Sanjay Jasola asked the students to do research on technologies like prediction tools and data observational. The workshop was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering and Petroleum Engineering of Graphic Era Deemed University in collaboration with ISRO.
HOD of Civil Engineering Dr. K.k Gupta, HOD of Petroleum Engineering Dr. Virendra Bahadur Singh, Coordinator Dr. K. S. Rawat, Dr. Amit Srivastava and students were present in the workshop .
